Meet Recap

The Berries women’s cross country team qualified for the Culver Regional with a 5th place finish in the Logansport Sectional meet on Saturday. The Berries were led by seniors Isabelle Crain with a 13th place finish and Cass Kestle with a 29th place finish. Adria Higgins was 31st and freshman Carolayn Salamanca was 33rd. Megan Benn was 37th to complete the Berry scorers. Joseline Hernandez was 43rd and Emily Viera finished 55th.

“Isabelle ran a great race over the last 2 miles of the course. Going thru the mile mark she was 22nd and when she went past mile 2 she had worked herself all the way up 14th so she really worked hard in the Berry Patch. I thought Cass Kestle and Adria Higgins also had good races in the 2 and 3 spots. A real key for us was to get a good race out of our freshman, Carolayn Salamanca, who finished fourth for us today. Carolayn has really improved this season and she has a lot of talent that hasn’t been tapped yet. It was a team effort all the way,” said Logansport coach, Brian Morrill.

“We are just pleased to get to advance for another week of competition,” said Morrill. We knew it was going to be close between Eastern and us to advance and the team really gutted it out the last mile and passed several girls to swing it our way,” said Morrill.

The Berries will run at the Regional next Saturday at the Culver Academies.
