Meet Recap

Logansport won it’s first sectional since 2011 Saturday behind a solid team effort from their entire team. Logan outdistanced Western on the strength of their pack placing their 5, 6, and 7th runners inside of Western’s fifth runner. “We knew Everetts would probably hang a one on the board so we had a specific race plan that kept us going out in control and moving up through the patch, which we executed perfectly.” “The boys never panicked, and ran their third mile with determination and grit which sewed up the title.” Leading the way for the Berries was freshman Christian Dawson, finishing 4th in 17:17. “Christian just ran a huge race. It was our goal to put three in the top 10 and Christian had a PR to make sure we accomplished that objective. Ryan Lythgoe was second for the Berries, placing 7th in 17:29. “Ryan just keeps getting faster and faster, and he ran the best race of his career.” Senior Jake Hoover finished in tenth place with a time of 17:32. “Jake has been our number one all year until he had an ankle injury a couple of weeks ago.” “We were excited that he got to run the sectional and for having ten days rest he truly ran an outstanding race.” “I know Jake is excited to return to Culver and get a chance at redemption on their course. This was where his ankle flared up, so he wants to prove himself.” Kenny Echols finished fourth on the Berries team, placing 20th in 18:10. “Kenny was really hyped and may have went out a tad hot, but he finished hard and within a couple of seconds of his PR. I really think he will continue to improve his time next week.” The final place on the Logan varsity was Kyle Army, who finished 25th in 18:27. “It was a huge day for Army, who ran a 30 second personal best.” Adam Lowry was 29th in 18:34 and Zach Russell 31st in 18:37 to round out the Berries varsity. “Even though we only score the top five, our six seven finished in front of everyone else’s number five-runner which added points to their scores.” “I like the pack mentality and the guts in which these guys are practicing and competing.” Logansport will run in the regional at Culver Academy on Saturday, October 15th at 11:10.
