A walk-off left Logansport Berries Varsity on the wrong end of an 8-7 defeat to Anderson on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with Anderson batting in the bottom of the seventh when Anderson singled off of Megan Benn, driving in one run.
Logansport Berries Varsity trailed by five runs in the fifth inning, but then fought back to lower the final margin. The Berries Varsity scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Lexi Ayers in the sixth, a double by Lexi Zartman in the sixth, a groundout by Brittany Bandy in the sixth, and a double by Ayers in the seventh.
Logan captured the lead in the first inning. Yilian Rodriguez drove in one when she doubled in the first inning.
Then, Logan scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Ayers, a double by Zartman, and a groundout RBI by Bandy.
Megan Benn took the loss for Logansport Berries Varsity. She tossed three and a third innings, giving up three runs, five hits, and walking one.
Rodriguez started the game for Logansport. She tossed three and a third innings, surrendering five runs, four hits, and walking one.
The Logan Berries Varsity collected nine hits. Zartman, Rodriguez, Olivia Pearson, and Ayers each collected multiple hits.
