Meet Recap

Logansport ran in the 50th annual New Prairie Invitational, one of the nation’s grandest invites. Logansport finished in 27th place with 742 points. Valpo won the team title with 88 points. Individually for Logansport, Christian Dawson finished in 96th place with a 17:53. “Christian has been nursing a sore knee and hasn’t run hard in over two weeks so we are happy with his time on a hot day and a difficult course.” Zach Russell finished second for the Berries in 123rd place with a time of 18:14, Kyle Army was third on the team and 141st overall with an 18:36, Trey Shively finished in 190th place in a time of 19:34, and rounding out the Berry scoring was Noe Ortiz with a 19:43 (192nd). “It was a tough course, a hot day, and we had a really heavy week of running so the boys didn’t run as fast as they wanted, but they showed great heart and effort. Some of them had their first “Bad” race, which happens, especially when the heat climbs up. Right now Zach Russell is running great, right around his PR despite difficult running conditions. When the weather cools off and we back off on our mileage he will really be happy with where his times end up. Logansport runs at Culver Academies on Saturday.
