Alette Woodhouse led the girls team with first place finishes in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter races along with a victory in the 4X 800 meter relay race. Other race winners for the girls team were Jada Paul in 100 and 200 meter races along with the 4X 100 meter relay. Rylee Zimmerman won the high jump with a personal best jump of 5 feet and the long jump. Emma Rogers picked up wins in the Shot Put and the Discus and Aleyah Kinder won the 300 meter hurdles and was on the winning 4X 100 relay team. Adyson Porter also was on the winning 4X 100 meter relay team and won the 100 meter hurdles. Natalie Hill was victorious in the 400 meter dash and anchored the girls 4X 400 meter relay team. Eli Schurter led the way for the boys with a victory in the individual 400 meter dash along with participating on the winning 4X 800 meter and 4x 400 meter relay teams. Dual winners for the boys team were Landon Morock in the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles, Yandriel Pizarro-Cotto won both the 800 meter and the 1600 meter races, along with Jonathan Miranda being on the winning 4X 800 meter relay and the 4X 400 meter relay teams. Nickenson Hyppolite picked up a win in the High Jump by clearing 6'0 feet. Freshman Kaled Hernandez was victorious in his first ever 3200 meter race on the track. Jackson Wicker leaped 18'10' and 3/4 inches for the win in the Long Jump. Esau Cortes finished second in the Shot Put, but threw a personal best of 41'8'. "This was a great opportunity for several of our athletes to compete and experience varsity level competition," said Berries head coach, Brian Morrill. "We had several of our kids with conflicts tonight because this meet was supposed to take place earlier in the week. The Spring school play took some of our kids tonight, a few couldn't get off work, and we had some on college visits. We had kids a little farther down on our depth chart step up, and in some cases, win their event and in other cases score points for us. It was great for them to get a taste of varsity competition and a confidence builder also," said Morrill. Eli Schurter and Jonathan Miranda finished 1-2 in the 400 Meter Dash to help lead the Berries to victory on Friday evening at Peru. (Photo credit to Kristen Schmid Schurter).
