Logansport Girls Track & Field take Hot Dog Invitational Trophy home from Frankfort The Logansport Berries Track & Field boys and girls teams enjoyed a great day of competition at the Hot Dog Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Berries girls' team won the six team meet with a slim victory over Cass, Kokomo, Frankfort, Clinton Central, and Fountain Central while the boys finished second to Kokomo. The Berries girls team record is now 10-0 and the boys are 9-1 for the season. RJ Clem took two first place finishes in the Shot Put (50 feet, 2 inches) and the Discus (150 feet, 1 inch) while Alette Woodhouse took the 1600 meter race in 5:17.55, Emma Rogers was first in the Shot Put with a throw of 31 feet, 10 inches, and Adyson Porter won the pole vault with 7 feet, 6 inches. Overall the Berries athletes had a total of 22 personal best performances on the afternoon. "Our athletes were ready for some great competition and nice weather and they both came together on Saturday," commented the Berries head coach, Brian Morrill. "Our throwing group is really coming on with RJ now consistently reaching over 50 feet in the Shot and 150 feet in the Discus. Emma Rogers and Lily Clem are a strong 1-2 combination in both the discus and shot. Coach Carley Camp has been a great addition to our program and has a lot of hard working kids in those events. Emma and Lily took first and second in the shot and second and third in the discus. Alette Woodhouse had a phenomenal 1600 race and shattered her personal best by 13 seconds with a 5:17 time. She leapfrogged a whole bunch of 1600 meter runners in the State with that performance. I think she can go even lower before the end of the season. Adyson Porter came out on top in the pole vault with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches. That was her personal best and somewhat of a surprise, but we had another vaulter, Elliot Bricknell, that picked up a third place for the boys where everything clicked too. When form and confidence start coming together the personal best vaults follow soon after and that is happening at the right time for both Adyson and Elliot," said Morrill. "Karsen Jackson and Landon Morock's 200 meter race really stood out on Saturday. Their previous best 200 meter times were in the 24 second range and they finished in 22.51 for Karsen and 22.57 for Landon. Those were huge time drops for that race and extremely encouraging for the future," said Morrill. We had a lot of our athletes that finished in the top 4 places on Saturday and that depth provided two of the best team finishes we've ever had at this meet said Morrill. Other top 4 finishers for the Berries girls team were: Jada Paul 3rd 100 meters, Nathalia Hernandez 4th 800 meters, Natalie Hill 2nd 400 meters, Rylee Zimmerman 2nd in both the high jump and long jump, Aleyah Kinder 2nd in the 300 hurdles and 3rd in the 100 hurdles, Adyson Porter 4th in the 100 hurdles, Ximena Lopez 3rd in the pole vault, Marilyn Macias 4th in the pole vault, and Alette Woodhouse 3rd in the 3200 meters. Other top 4 finishers for the boys were: Steffen Jn Baptiste 3rd discus, Nickenson Hyppolite 2nd high jump, Anthony Zarate 2nd 800 meters, Yandriel Pizarro-Cotto 3rd 800 meters, Elliot Baldini 3rd high jump, Wes Sejour 4th high jump, Bransyn Fultz-Vanata 3rd 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles, and Landon Morock 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles. The Berries will host the Cass County Track Meet this coming Saturday morning starting at 9:30 am with Cass, Pioneer, and Caston.
