The Logansport Girls Cross Country race the 44th Annual Culver Invitational. “Despite another tough week of training, our team ran very well this weekend with 9 of 20 personal or seasons bests.” Says coach Kailin Bauman Junior Alette Woodhouse led the Lady Berries running 19:49 and finishing 14th. Also competing in the Varsity Open race were Kyndra Ely (21:42), Kate Spradling (22:29), Aaliyah Ramirez (23:02, SB), Cadence James (24:11) Sam Richie (24:57), Eva Woodhouse (25:02, PR), Karly Leyva (25:40) and Yari Sanchez-Olmos (25:40). While we are still waiting for official race times, the reserve racers have a lot to be proud of- unofficial results show several personal records and seasons bests. Having the best race of her season, freshman Gwen Miller cut roughly 90 seconds, placing 88th with an unofficial personal record time of 25:21. “For the second week in a row, Gwen was having the time of her life at this race and I think it shows in her split times.” Says coach, Kailin Bauman. “To say we are proud of her effort would be an understatement.” Also racing in this race were, Genesis Sevilla (27:10, SB), Sommer Lucero (27:14, PR), Vianey Hernandez Espinoza (27:16, PR), Ava Pe (27:14, SB), Cecilia Rico (27:39), Rosalia Ramirez (28:46), Amber Garfias (29:11), Cooper Bricknell (29:49, SB), Avril Woodhouse (30:46, PR), Charlie English (31:22) “This entire team continues to impress Coach Chandler Nelson and I as they race on tired legs with positive attitudes and determination. With our sights set on Conference and post season advancement, these weekly invitationals are a chance to test race techniques and pacing strategies and week after week, these athletes are taking chances and learning.” Says Bauman. The Berries will take a week off before heading to Lafayette Central Catholic for the Hoosier Conference Meet.
