The Logansport Girls Cross Country finish first at Hoosier Conference Meet. Logansport Cross Country headed to Lafayette Central Catholic on Saturday, October 10th to compete in the Hoosier Conference meet- where they left with a 1st place finish. “I am so proud of the way this team ran this weekend, our entire team. This was a new course for us and the competition was intimidating. Going into the meet, we thought we could place top 3 if we ran well but winning was a well-deserved ending.” Says head coach, Kailin Bauman. “Being able to see the athletes at multiple places on the course was an added benefit. They all put themselves in strong positions by the 1k mark and either held on or moved up by the finish.” Placing 5 girls in the top 20 of the varsity race, the Logansport team won the meet with 48 points, edging out West Lafayette (61 points), Western (65) Hamilton Heights (65) Lafayette Central Catholic (107) and Tipton (164). Racing varsity were Alette Woodhouse (3rd- 19:52), Kate Spradling (12th-21:39), Kyndra Ely (13th- 21:55), Aaliyah Ramirez (18th-22:39, SB) Cadence James (20th- 23:03), Samantha Richie (22nd, 23:11 PR), and Yarictza Sanchez-Olmos (32nd- 24:39, SB). Wrapping up their season, the JV team also raced well, with 6 personal records or season bests. Winning the entire JV race, freshman Eva Woodhouse dropped over 90 seconds to PR with 23:26. Following suit was Gwendalyn Miller (24:24, PR), Ava Pe (25:56, PR), Cecilia Rico (26:16, PR), Genesis Sevilla (27:10, SB), Avril Woodhouse (29:20, PR), Sommer Lucero (29:40) Rosalia Ramirez (29:41) Cooper Bricknell (30:06) and Charlie English (31:09). “As the JV season comes to an end, on behalf of Coach Nelson and myself, I would like to thank every member of our team for their continued commitment, dedication, trust, and incredible attitudes for the entirety of our season together. I would also like to say a special thank you to our seniors, Ava Pe, Cece Rico, and Genesis Sevilla for their contributions to LXC over the years.” Coach Bauman says. The Berries will host sectionals this Saturday, October 17th.
