Logansport Girls Cross Country Compete at Brownsburg Regionals, Woodhouse Advances to State Meet. Saturday was the celebration of a great season at Regionals in Brownsburg. “After a truly historic season for the program, we just wanted to see what would happen if we just ran hard. This meant fast miles and holding on for the remainder of the race- that and having some fun.” Says Coach Kailin Bauman. Leading the Lady Berries was junior Alette Woodhouse (19:08, placing 29th) breaking her own school record of 19:17, set last year at the Regionals Meet. A time solid enough to earn her an individual advancement to the IHSAA State Cross Country Meet in Terre Haute on October 31st. “Alette has been within striking distance of individual advancement the last two year, and we were really shooting for it this year. That race required going out hard and holding on- and her efforts were rewarded with a new school record and an advancement to state meet!” Logansport earned 15th place finish overall, running strong and dropping the team average time to 21:31, an improvement from last week’s 22:09. The regional team included sophomore Kyndra Ely (21:25-116th) senior Kate Spradling (21:45-130th), sophomore Aaliyah Ramirez (SB- 22:15- 163rd), freshman Cadence James (23:00- 185th), freshman Samantha Richie (23:41-201st), and junior Yari Sanchez-Olmos (25:38-228th). “It is an honor to have had the opportunity to return to regionals as a team. This meet was not a guarantee on our schedule. Our varsity team, with the exception of Alette, has wrapped up a winning season and as we look forward to what next season may hold, we want to thank our senior, Kate Spradling, for her dedication, effort and commitment to LXC.” Bauman notes.
