Logansport Varsity Softball wins 5-2 over Pioneer

Logansport Varsity softball vs Pioneer. The Logansport Lady Berries softball team starts off season with a 5 to 2 victory over the Pioneer Lady Panthers. Senior Natalee Packard picked up the win for Logansport. Packard scattered 8 hits, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, while striking out 6 in four innings. Freshman Gracie Risley picked up the save throwing the final three innings, giving up 1 hit, while striking out 4 panthers. Logansport offensive picked up a run to tie the game after Risley doubled to left and then later scored on an infield single by Teagan Wolf. Two batters later Wolf would score on an RBI single to right by senior Kellyn Cripe to take a 2 to 1 lead. Pioneer tied the game in the top of the third. Risley homered on a line drive smash over the centerfield fence for 3 to 2 to lead in the bottom half of the third. Lady Berries pick up another run in the 4th when Bella Nicoles launched a triple to left and scored on an RBI single by Packard. Brooklynn Hagerty capped off the scoring with an RBI single scoring Packard in the sixth inning. The Lady Berries collected 11 hits on the day. Packard lead the attack with 3 hits with a double. Risley had a double and a home run. Nicoles had a single and a double. Also collecting hits for the Berries were Cripe, Hagerty, Evie Kitchel, Kate Spradling and Wolf. Five separate Berries collected RBI’s. Kate Spradling lead the team with two stolen bases. The Lady Berries will play a home double header this Saturday at 11 am against Twin Lakes
