LHS Varsity Softball defeats Lafayette Jeff 5-0 Pitching, defense, and baserunning were the key to the Lady Berries victory over the Lafayette Jeff Lady Bronchos. Pitcher Gracie Risley dominated the Lafayette Lady Bronchos. The right hander threw a complete 7 inning shut, surrendering a single hit, while striking out 10. The Lady Berries defense backed up Risley's performance with multiple difficult plays by the outfield. The defense did not commit any errors on the day. The Lady Berries picked up two runs in the second inning when baserunners Adrienne Scott and Rylinn Spradling scored on errors by the Bronchos. Both put pressure on the defense taking extra bases forcing the over thrown balls. Risley lead of the third inning with a walk. Bella Nicoles singles to left to put runners at fist and second. Both runners advance on over thrown ball. Scott lines at two RBI single to plate Risley and pinch runner Lucy Gordon for a 4-0 lead. Logansport scores their final run of the game after a single by Kate Spradling and a ground out moved her to second base. K. Spradling scores on a single to left by Risley. Berries will play in the first annual Ron Kinnaman Classic this Saturday at 10 am.
