Logansport Berries Baseball Keep It Close Against West Lafayette, Lose On Walkoff By GameChanger Media Logansport Berries Baseball fell to West Lafayette 12-11 on Friday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at 11 in the bottom of the ninth when Ben Werth singled, scoring one run. Logansport Berries Baseball collected 17 hits and West Lafayette had 12 in the high-scoring affair. Logansport Berries Baseball got on the board in the top of the first inning after Deagan Kitchel doubled to center field, and Braylon Ritchie singled to center field, each scoring one run. West Lafayette jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Werth doubled, scoring two runs, and Joe Doty hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Logansport Berries Baseball captured the lead, 6-3, in the top of the fourth when Micah Rogers singled, scoring one run, and Bryson Herr tripled, scoring three runs. West Lafayette flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 8-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Werth that drove in two. Logansport Berries Baseball took the lead, 11-9, in the top of the sixth thanks to singles by Kitchel, Camden Chapman, and Carson Dubes. Calvin Snyder doubled to right field, which helped West Lafayette tie the game at 11 in the bottom of the sixth. Lincoln Furry earned the win for West Lafayette. The reliever allowed three hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two. Kuper Jones took the loss for Logansport Berries Baseball. The reliever went three and one-third innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out two and walking one. Aiden Swank began the game for Logansport Berries Baseball. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Werth started the game for West Lafayette. The pitcher allowed eight hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two. Logansport Berries Baseball accumulated 17 hits in the game. Ritchie and Chapman were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Logansport Berries Baseball. Herr led Logansport Berries Baseball with three runs batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-5 on the day. Dubes, Kitchel, and Jones each collected multiple hits for Logansport Berries Baseball. Kitchel stole two bases. Logansport Berries Baseball stole five bases in the game. Logansport Berries Baseball turned two double plays in the game. West Lafayette collected 12 hits in the game.
