LHS softball escapes with a 3-1 victory versus Northwestern

LHS softball escapes with a 3-1 victory versus Northwestern Pitching and defense was the answer for the Lady Berries against Northwestern. Natalee Packard started for Logansport surrendering one earned run, on four hits, struck out 7 in 4 innings of work. Gracie Risley threw the final four innings allowing no runs on 5 hits and striking out 7. Logansport struggle to find there stroke most of the evening. Finally the Lady Berries broke through in extra innings. With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the eighth, Bella Nicoles hit a one out line drive single to center. Natalee Packard smashed a line drive into the left centerfield gap to score Nicoles from first. With the Berries leading 2-1 Adrienne Scott infield single put runners at first and third. Bianca Cortez hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to give the Lady Berries a 3-1 lead. Risley shut down Northwestern for the win. Logansport picked up the first run of the game when Scott tripled and then scored on a wild pitch. Packard and Scott had two hits each. Scott had a triple. Packard and Kellyn Cripe had a double each. Also collecting a hit each were Risley, Nicoles, Cortez, Gordon and Cripe.
