Softball (Girls V) Scores

LHS softball takes down Cathedral 6-4 Logansport found themselves down 1-0 after the first inning against #1 ranked 3A Cathedral. The Lady Berries answered back with five runs in the second inning. Natalee Packard and Adrienne Scott led off the inning with consecutive walks. Brooklyn Hagerty executed a perfect sacrifice bunt. Hagerty was able to beat out the throw for a hit. With the bases loaded a wild pitch allowed Packard to score and Scott and Hagerty to move up to second and third. Bianca Cortez's sacrifice fly to center scored Scott. Lucy Gordon walked to put runners at first and second. Kellyn Cripe was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Gracie Risely cleared the bases with her line drive double to left centerfield to give Logansport a 5-1 lead. Cathedral picked up another run in the bottom of the third. Logansport answered back in the top half of the fourth. Gordon walked to lead off the inning. Cripe reaches base on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt. Gordon scores on the throwing error. That is all the runs the Lady Berries and pitcher Risley would need. Risley handled the powerful Cathedral offense. The freshman righthander threw a complete seven inning game. She allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits, with four strikeouts. The offense was efficient pushing runs across the plate. Risely, Packard, Hagerty had hits for the Lady Berries. Risely had three RBI's and Cortez added one RBI also. Lucy Gordon walked three times and scored twice.
