Walkoff Homerun Seals Win For McCutcheon Against Logansport JV
Logansport JV fell to McCutcheon 8-7 on Tuesday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at seven with McCutcheon batting in the bottom of the tenth when C Ingle hit a solo homer.
Logansport JV trailed by four runs in the first inning, but then fought back to lower the final margin. Logansport JV put up seven runs in the failed comeback. Brooke Veasey, Kylie Rozzi, Reagan Hildebrand, Brooke Overman, Natalie Coffing, and Kyleigh Sweet all picked up RBIs in the rally.
Logansport JV captured the lead in the third inning. Logansport JV scored on a stolen base during Overman’s at bat. Then Overman singled.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, McCutcheon tied things up at seven when V Salazar grounded out, scoring one run.
Logansport JV scored three runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Logansport JV was led by Rozzi, Hildebrand, and Overman, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
F Holmes was on the mound for McCutcheon. She surrendered five runs on seven hits over three innings, walking zero.
Veasey toed the rubber for Logansport JV. She allowed 13 hits and eight runs over nine innings, striking out ten.
Logansport JV collected 18 hits on the day. Overman, Veasey, Sweet, Hunter Hamm, Hildebrand, and Rozzi each managed multiple hits for Logansport JV. Overman went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Logansport Logansport JV in hits. Logansport JV stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Hamm led the way with two. Logansport JV didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hildebrand had the most chances in the field with 11.
McCutcheon racked up 13 hits in the game. Ingle, A Cheesman, and C Marshall all managed multiple hits for McCutcheon. Ingle led McCutcheon with three hits in five at bats. Cheesman led McCutcheon with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 stolen bases. McCutcheon was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. C Johnson made the most plays with five.
