Alexys Bender would not be denied at the plate on Saturday, picking up five hits and leading Logansport JV to a 31-2 win over Southwood. Bender singled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the third, doubled in the third, and singled in the fifth.
Logansport JV got on the board in the first inning. Kyleigh Sweet doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Logansport JV put up 11 runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught came from triples by Heidi Reed, Brooke Veasey, and Hunter Hamm, singles by Sweet, Bender, and Veasey, a walk by Natalie Coffing, and a double by Hamm.
Sweet was on the mound for Logansport JV. She surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out seven.
Aaliyah Douglass toed the rubber for Southwood. She went five innings, allowing 31 runs on 30 hits and striking out one.
Logansport JV saw the ball well today, racking up 30 hits in the game. Hamm, Bender, Kylie Rozzi, Sweet, Reed, Veasey, M Walker, and Coffing all had multiple hits for Logansport JV. Bender and Hamm each collected five hits to lead Logansport JV. Logansport JV was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Sweet made the most plays with six. Logansport JV stole 24 bases during the game as six players stole more than one. Rozzi led the way with five.
Southwood didn’t commit a single error in the field. Shantel Crabtree had the most chances in the field with six.
