Logansport JV fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 16-8 loss to Kokomo on Thursday. Kokomo scored on a double by Janessa Reece in the first inning, a double by Malori Nichols in the first inning, a double by Serenity Kenner in the first inning, a single by Reece in the second inning, a single by Whitney Pierce in the second inning, a single by Karmyn Langley in the second inning, a double by Kenner in the second inning, and a stolen base by Kenner in the second inning.

Despite the loss, Logansport JV did collect 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Kokomo had 24 hits on the way to victory.

Kokomo got on the board in the first inning when Reece doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Pierce was on the rubber for Kokomo. She went seven innings, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and striking out five.

Brooke Veasey was in the circle for Logansport JV. She lasted seven innings, allowing 24 hits and 16 runs while striking out six.

Logansport JV totaled 12 hits in the game. Hunter Hamm, Brooke Overman, Kyleigh Sweet, and Alexys Bender each managed multiple hits for Logansport JV. Hamm went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Logansport JV in hits. Logansport JV was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Heidi Reed had the most chances in the field with eight.

Kokomo totaled 24 hits. Brook Reaves, Kenner, Nichols, Pierce, Langley, Reece, Jordan Call, and Olivie Hicks each racked up multiple hits for Kokomo. Reaves led Kokomo with four hits in five at bats. Kokomo stole 17 bases during the game as six players stole more than one. Reaves led the way with three. Kokomo didn’t commit a single error in the field. Storm Blake had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
