Senior night did not start off quite as planned but it was a great night with alot to be proud of. Due to weather the teams from Northwestern, Western, and Lafayette Jeff were unable to attend. This was our only opportunity to get any type of meet in before our NCC competition Saturday and we were thankful to have a judge and a competitor from Caston in attendance. The night started off honoring our outstanding Seniors. Managers Alberto Matias, and Alec Swank along with gymnasts, Mayle Goad and Haylee Osburn were all recognized for their dedication to the LHS gymnastics program. (Not in attendance-Manager J.P.C). Freshman, Lexi Brown won the all around with a score of 35.8. She placed 2nd on beam (9.15) and floor with a season high score of 9.25. She tied Senior, Mayle Goad for 1st on Vault (9.0) and Bars (8.4). Goad finished 2nd in the all around with an impressive, career high score of 35.55. She placed 1st on beam with another career high of 9.25, and 3rd on the floor (8.9). Junior, Kimi Wilkinson finished 3rd in the all around with a 33.35. She won the floor exercise with a score of 9.4. She placed 2nd on vault (8.8), 6th on beam (7.6), and 5th on bars tying her career high score of 7.55. Sophomore, Cassidy Cuppy finished 4th in the all around with a 33.1. She placed 2nd on bars (7.95), and 4th on floor (8.7) both becoming her career high scores. She finished 3rd on beam (8.55), and 5th on vault (7.9). Freshman, Jaelyn Benish finished 5th in the all around with her season high score of 32.35. She placed 3rd on vault (8.4), 4th on bars (7.75), and 5th on floor (7.85). She hit her season high score on beam of an 8.35 and placed 4th on the event. Senior, Haylee Osburn was able to compete bars after battling an ankle injury and placed 3rd with a 7.9. It was great to be able to have her compete on atleast one event for her Senior night and she did extremely well despite limited practice time. The team recorded their second highest score of 106.0 tonight. The Berries host the NCC Championship this Saturday, February 20th.
