Yilian Rodriguez was an RBI machine on Saturday, driving in five on three hits to lead Logansport Berries Varsity past Muncie Central 24-1 on Saturday. Rodriguez drove in runs on a single in the second, a single in the third, a fielder’s choice in the third, and a double in the fourth.
In the first inning, Logansport got their offense started. The Berries Varsity scored one run when Lexi Ayers singled.
The Berries Varsity put up 11 runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Kylie Rozzi and Rodriguez, an error on a ball put in play by Lexi Zartman and Claire Kitchel, doubles by Megan Benn and Elle Deardorff, a triple by Ayers, and a groundout by Benn.
Megan Benn got the start on the mound for the Berries. She gave up six hits and one run, while striking out one and walking one.
The Logansport Berries Varsity collected 20 hits. Olivia Pearson, Ayers, Rodriguez, and Benn all managed multiple hits for Logan. Pearson went 5-for-6 at the plate to lead the Berries in hits. Logansport stole 11 bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Rozzi led the way with two.
